An ITU Student at Meetween, Europe's Meeting Assistant Equipped with Artificial Intelligence

The Meetween project, in which ITU is also involved, offers innovative solutions such as multilingual translation, lip synchronization and user avatars in online meetings with artificial intelligence. In this way, the international digital cooperation and communication experience becomes more natural and accessible.

From Antarctic Glaciers to Sustainable Chemistry

In this study conducted on microorganisms isolated from glacier cores taken from Antarctica, the production potential of enzymes that can remain active at low temperatures was investigated. The results obtained contributed to the identification of new enzyme sources that can be used in environmentally friendly biotechnological applications.

Domestic, Rare Earth-Free, and Efficient: Two Master's Students' Extraordinary Generator Journey

ITU graduate students are working on a highly efficient and cost-effective generator design that does not require rare earth magnets. With this TÜBİTAK-supported project, they aim to contribute to sustainable, domestic energy solutions in micro-grids.

Interior Designs to Reduce Earthquake Risk

This research, which addresses earthquake safety not only through the load-bearing systems of the building, but also through interior arrangements and furniture placements, offers a new conservation perspective. This research, which seeks a solution against antibiotic resistance, designs new molecules to bind to the bacterial ribosome with computer-aided modeling and validates them with laboratory tests. This approach, integrating computational and experimental methods, holds groundbreaking potential in rapid and targeted drug development processes.

Smart Solution to Traffic Congestion

A research project supported by collaborative vehicle technologies develops innovative modeling and control methods to improve traffic flow on urban high-standard roads. The approach developed within the scope of the project aims to control congestion in mixed traffic conditions where standard and driverless vehicles are together.

From Food Waste to Packaging

The AgriBioPack project, developed to extend the shelf life of Mediterranean food products, aims to reduce food waste and promote environmentally responsible production through bio-based active packaging solutions. This multinational initiative, featuring contributions from ITU students, proposes a sustainable transformation model that converts agricultural food waste into high-value packaging materials.

A Smart T-Shirt for Athletes

ITU PhD student Kadir Özlem has developed a smart t-shirt that monitors athletes’ posture and vital signs in real time using sensors embedded in knitted fabric. Developed as part of the STEWART project, this innovative product stands out for both its academic contributions and commercial potential.

A Leading Role in the Circular Economy

Organized under the leadership of Assoc. Prof. Dr. İmge Akçakaya Waite, the New Horizons workshop brought together researchers and stakeholders from across Europe in Istanbul to explore circular economy-focused collaboration. ITU PhD student Cihan Mert Sabah took part in this interdisciplinary platform, contributing to and expanding an international research network.

Rethinking the Streets

Within the ACCTRA project, active contributions are made to the planning, data analysis, and social acceptance processes of the micromobility lane application in Istanbul. The project offers a comparative evaluation of local solutions for sustainable transportation and street transformation on an international scale.

The 2024–2025 Doctoral Graduation Ceremony will be held in two sessions on Friday, July 11, 2025, at 10:00 AM and 2:30 PM at the Süleyman Demirel Cultural Center.

2024-2025 Undergraduate and Graduate Graduation Ceremony

The undergraduate and master’s graduation ceremony, where you will crown your success as a #ITUGraduateSchool graduate, will be held on Saturday, July 12, 2025, at ITU Stadium.

Regarding Submission of Thesis Proposals and Progress Reports

The deadline for submitting thesis proposals and progress reports via the Student Information System is June 30, 2025. Submissions after this date will not be accepted.

A Millennium of Hidden Clues in Sediments

"While analyzing sediment cores from the sea, I was fascinated to realize that each layer holds a climatic message from thousands of years ago. Through this project, I not only developed technical skills, but also learned to think like a researcher, collaborate within a team, and work with large-scale data."
