Transfer Conditions and Application Process for Graduate Programs:

Transfer conditions determined by the programs are announced at www.sis.itu.edu.tr/EN/ on the application dates specified in the academic calendar.

Candidates who do not meet or cannot provide documentation for the announced conditions are not eligible to apply.

Applications must be submitted to the Institute together with the required documents in full.

All documents are forwarded to the relevant Heads of Departments for evaluation. The final decision regarding the transfer request is made by the Institute Board, taking into consideration the opinion of the Head of the Department.


Required Documents:

  1. Provided that the original is submitted, a photocopy of the transcript showing that the student studied at least one semester in the master program and the GPA average is at least 3.00. 
  2. Provided that the original is submitted, a photocopy of the transcript showing that the student studied at least one semester in the doctorate program and the GPA average is at least 3.25.
  3. Provided that the original is submitted, a photocopy of the documents showing the courses and grades taken from all the Higher Education Institutions graduated.
  4. Document showing the disciplinary status from the institution where the student studied / graduated.
  5. A copy of the ALES (Academic Personnel and Graduate Education Entrance Exam) result (photocopy of ALES document provided that the original is submitted). Alternatively, GRE scores may be submitted (photocopy provided that the original is submitted). The validity period for both documents is 5 years.
  6. Two letters of reference, at least one of which must be written by a faculty member who has worked directly with the student.
  7. Proof of English language proficiency, in accordance with the criteria accepted by the ITU Senate (photocopy provided that the original is submitted). Click here for a list of valid English exams and minimum score requirements.

Important Note: Students whose transfer applications are approved must apply to the Registrar’s Office in person to complete their final registration. Failure to do so will be considered a forfeiture of the right to transfer.
